  "methodology": "The products studied for BPH/lower-urinary-tract symptoms were STANDARDIZED lipidosterolic extracts (~85-95% fatty acids/sterols), dosed at 320 mg/day. standardizedMgPerServing = the DISCLOSED standardized-extract mg per serving; null where the product is non-standardized whole-berry powder (a \"450 mg\" or \"900 mg\" or \"2400 mg equivalent\" berry number that does not indicate the fatty-acid/sterol fraction). costPerDayAt320 = cost to reach 320 mg standardized extract/day; null where not standardized (incomputable). \"verdict\": standardized / berry-powder / blend. EVIDENCE CONTEXT (structure/function only, and the evidence is largely NULL): the strongest, most independent placebo-controlled trials (STEP, Bent 2006 PMID 16467543; CAMUS, Barry 2011 PMID 21954478) and the Cochrane review (Tacklind 2012 PMID 23235581) found saw palmetto no better than placebo for urinary symptoms, even at 2-3x the standard dose; it also does not lower PSA (Andriole 2013 PMID 23253958).
